A COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM OF DRIVER'S EDUCATION
Lake Michigan Driver's Education provides both
Segment One and Segment Two instruction providing young drivers with the
opportunity to learn and practice safe, defensive and courteous driving.
Viewed as a partnership with student, parent and instructor, Segment I
provides twenty-four (24) hours of classroom instruction coupled with six
(6) hours of on-the-road, behind the wheel, driving experience.
Segment II provides the additional (6) hours of instruction needed to become
eligible to take the state sponsored road test.
By design, parents are included in the instructional
process and are considered by the instructor to be an integral part of the
student/ parent/ instructor team. During Segment I, students are engaged in
classroom and driving experiences which are to be shared with the parent.
At the end of Segment I, successful students will be eligible for a Level I
driver's license and are required by law, to log thirty (30) hours of behind
the wheel driving with parents prior to enrollment in Segment II. The
thirty (30) hour requirement places the parent in the learning process, as
the student's other instructor. We will assist you with that process
by providing helpful learning materials to enable your student driver to be
successful. We will also provide a practice route and a video of your
student in his/her last driving experience just prior to you taking over.
